Calcipotriol in the treatment of various dermatoses.

Calcipotriol (calcipotriene) is a synthetic analogue of vitamin D3, widely used in the treatment of psoriasis. It decreases keratinocyte proliferation, accelerates their morphological differentiation, and exhibits significant immunosuppressive properties. Due to its mechanism of action, calcipotriol has become relevant for the treatment of various dermatological conditions, such as actinic keratosis, vitiligo, and seborrheic keratosis, among others.
The literature review was based on scientific sources indexed in international databases, including Web of Science, Scopus, PubMed, and the Russian RINC (Research Index of National Citations) database.
The aim of this study is to investigate the range of calcipotriol applications in skin disorders beyond psoriasis and evaluate its efficacy and duration of clinical effects.
The selection of sources was conducted using keywords and phrases: vitamin D, calcipotriol, and calcipotriene. The review included publications from the last 10 years (2014–2024). An initial search using the keyword "calcipotriol" resulted in 707 international publications. From these, 55 relevant sources from the past decade were selected for inclusion. The literature search indicated a growing interest in exploring the therapeutic potential of calcipotriol in various dermatological diseases
