Abstract
A histological study of 90 patients with various clinical forms of actinic keratosis was conducted. The most common forms of AC were hypertrophic (45) and Bowenoid (20). The most rarely identified form of AC was the acanthoid form (2). Moreover, the study established that with actinic keratosis, the most common changes are in the epidermis, which can be interpreted as pathognomonic for actinic keratosis (dysplasia of epidermal cells, atypical keratinocytes in the basal and spinous layers, pathological mitoses and impaired stratification of keratinocytes).
The emerging phenomena, such as acanthosis, hypergranulosis and epidermal atrophy, in our opinion, are reactive and non-specific for actinic keratosis.
