Abstract

Onychomycosis is the most common lesion among all fungal diseases of the skin and its appendages. The types and variants of nail lesions differ in the domestic and foreign classifications of nail mycoses. But this difference is only external. In fact, the types of nail lesions according to

A.M. Arievich (1956) and the forms according to N. Zaias (1972) are very organically combined and complement each other. In addition, there is no concept of marginal lesions in the old classifications, and the concept of "atrophic type" is not interpreted accurately from the point of view of pathological anatomy. In this paper, an attempt is made to combine the domestic and Western classifications of onychomycosis, as well as a new interpretation of the concepts of "marginal lesions" and "atrophic type of onychomycosis".

Keywords: distal, lateral onychomycosis; hypertrophic, normotrophic onychomycosis, nail atrophy, marginal lesions.
