T-Cell cutaneous lymphoma: diagnostic difficulties
Abstract
A clinical case with T-cell cutaneous lymphoma is presented. The condition was difficult to diagnose because of polymorphic clinical picture, simulating various chronic diseases of the skin. The clinical picture of cutaneous disease in a woman aged 77 years resembled over a period of 3 years lupus erythematosus, sarcoidosis, or erythema multiforme exudativum, manifesting by macular and plaque efflorescence. Т-сєіі lymphoma was diagnosed only after emergence of the nodules. The diagnosis was confirmed by immunohistological studies with antibodies to CD3, CD4, CD5, CD8, CD20, and Ki-67 proteins. The proliferation index was 55.4%.

On the treatment of relapsing basal-cell carcinoma of the skin
Abstract
Relapsing basal-cell carcinoma was treated by the application method with Mardil Selen. Seven nodular ulcerative basal-cell carcinomas with mainly the micronodular structure were removed by applications of Mardil Selen. The treatment efficiency reached 85.7%. Satisfactory cosmetic results of treatment were confirmed by ultrasonic scanning, indicating recovery of the homogeneous structure of the derma.

Kaposi's sarcoma: Pathogenesis and basic therapy
Abstract
Two female patients with Kaposi’s sarcoma (KS) are described. In one KS manifested by typical and bullous efflorescence. Bullous KS developed as a result of secondary immunosuppression, caused by a long course of systemic glucocorticoid hormone (metiprede) and immunosuppressant endoxane for systemic scleroderma.

Translation cellular immunotherapy of idiopathic and immunosuppressive Kaposi's sarcoma
Abstract
Translation cellular immunotherapy with ammifurine photosensitizer and UV irradiation (spectrum A) of cellular mononuclear suspension (λ = 320-340 nm, 90 min), followed by its reinfusion, were carried out in 20 patients with Kaposi’s sarcoma (15 with the idiotypical and 5 with immunosuppressive type) aged 32-75 years. Evaluation of the immune status of patients, including phenotyping, was carried out before and after therapy and demonstrated the treatment efficiency, shown by the time course of the clinical picture and periods of disease remission. The treatment efficiency is explained by induction of antitumor immunological surveillance. Relevant publications (8 references) are discussed.

The role of immune cells and cytokines in the development of psoriasis
Abstract
The role of the immune system cells and cytokines they produce in the pathogenesis of an autoimmune disease - psoriasis - is discussed. The immune cells infiltrating the skin of psoriatic patients and keratinocytes - components of congenital immunity and inflammatory process - are characterized. The role of proinflammatory cytokines TNFα, IFNγ, IL-17, IL-22, and IL-20 in initiation and development of psoriatic inflammation is shown.

Toll receptor 4 and 9 gene polymorphisms in patients with psoriasis
Abstract
The prevalence of TLR4 (C6898A) and TLR9 (A2848G) gene polymorphisms and their associations with case history and clinical picture were studied in 425 patients of both genders, aged 18-80 years, with advanced stage of psoriasis vulgaris. Associations of TLR4 6898C/A mutant allele A with the guttat-type psoriasis, presence of psoriasis in the patient’s close relatives, presence of concomitant infectious or parasitic diseases, low dermatological quality of life index, and frequent relapses of the pathological process were detected. The TLR9 (A2848G) mutant allele G was associated with liability to exudation of psoriatic elements, inefficiency of therapy, high PASI score before therapy and its lesser changes over the course of treatment.

Morphofunctional changes in the skin in topical tacrolimus therapy of localized psoriasis
Abstract
The effect of topical tacrolimus ointment on the morphological and cutaneous changes in patients with localized psoriasis was studied by noninvasive diagnostic methods (laser confocal microscopy, laser Doppler flowmetry). The results confirmed the efficiency of topical tacrolimus ointment, comparable to that of corticosteroids.

Lichen ruber planus pigmentosus
Abstract
Lichen ruber planus pigmentosus is most frequently observed in residents of Asia, Latin America, and Middle East. Clinically this form manifests by dark-brown macules, papules and/or plaques mainly on the closed sites of the skin and in skin folds. One of the important symptoms of this form is prominent pigmentation, preceding the formation of lichenoid papules and impeding their detection. A case history is presented. A woman aged 53 developed a rare form of lichen ruber planus pigmentosus. The disease was disseminated with localization in the armpits and inguinal folds and regressed after 4 sessions of photophoresis.

Clinical characteristics of focal scleroderma associated with Borrelia infection
Abstract
The incidence of Borrelia infection is analyzed in 238 patients with various forms of scleroatrophic involvement of the skin. The clinical picture of localised scleroderma in borreliasis is described. Thirty-four Russian and foreign publications on scleroatrophic lesions of the skin in Borrelia infection are reviewed.

Scabies: The true picture and speculations
Abstract
The intense index of scabies incidence reduces every year in the Russian Federation, while the number of registered cases of scabies in the world is increasing every year. Comparison of registered cases of scabies in the Russian Federation, federal territories, and some regions of Russia and the volume of realized scabicides per patient indicates artificial reduction of disease incidence by its incomplete registration. The results of anonymous questionnaires answered by 56 dermatologists indicate the same facts.

Figured erythema associated with strongyloidosis
Abstract
Figured erythema in a female patient with strongyloidosis is described. Strongyloidosis was confirmed by detection of Strongyloides stercoralis nematodes in the feces. Figured erythema is a peculiar variant of Darier’s erythema annulare centrifugum. The disease progressed for about 6 months. The disease completely regressed after albendasole dehelminthization (two doses of 400 mg daily during 5 days).

PROGNOSTIC VALUE OF LACTOFERRIN MEASUREMENTS IN LEPRA WITH OSTEODESTRUCTIVE COMPLICATIONS
Abstract
Lactoferrin was measured in 173 patients with lepromatous lepra with osteodestructive complications (n = 53) and without complications (n = 120). The reference group consisted of patients with osteodestruction of other origin (tuberculosis, rheumatoid arthritis, acute infections). The results indicate changes in lactoferrin concentrations, depending on the severity of the process and specific complications in the locomotor system.

ANDROGENIC ALOPECIA: PATHOGENETIC MECHANISMS AND THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES
Abstract
Androgenic alopecia remains one of the most common variants of hair loss. Changes in androgen metabolism and genetic liability underlie this process. Androgenic alopecia develops under conditions of high serum levels of free testosterone and the so-called weak androgens in the presence of high levels of androgen receptors and 5a-reductase. As for the genetics of the process, a relationship between androgenic hair loss and chromosome X locus 20p11 has been described. The disease is rather stubborn. Finasteride and minoxidil remain the most effective therapy. The first results of therapy with botuloxin A and platelet-rich plasma have been published. The available treatment is effective in just 10% patients. This necessitates search for new approaches to solution of the problem.

Intradermal injection of vitamin B complex and cystin B6: therapy 58 for diffuse alopecia
Abstract
The effect of intradermal injection of group B vitamins and cystin B6 complex on the time course of morphofunctional changes in the scalp was studied in patients with diffuse alopecia by noninvasive diagnostic methods (laser confocal microscopy, laser Doppler flowmetry). Injections of vitamins B complex and of cystin B6 into the skin of the scalp resulted in improvement of circulation, promoted recovery of the natural hair growth cycle, and inhibited hair loss.
