Abstract

Actinic keratosis (AK) is a precancer disease of the skin, emerging in skin sites exposed to the sun. It is characterized by local intraepidermal dysplasia of different severity (KIN I — slight, KIN II — moderate, and KIN III — severe). We studied the distribution and morphology of AK histological types. The study was carried out on 30 biopsy specimens from patients. The study showed that the main morphological signs of AK in the epidermis were keratinocyte dysplasia and hyperparakeratosis; changes in the derma were presented by elastosis in all cases. The most prevalent morphological types of solar keratosis were hypertrophic, atrophic, and bovenoid variants. Slight dysplasia (KIN I) was found mainly in atrophic AK, moderate (KIN II) in hypertrophic, and severe (KIN III) only in bovenoid AK.
