«Я хоронил старика» и похожие высказывания в древнеегипетских жизнеописаниях: историко-культурный комментарий

Аннотация

В правление VI династии в древнеегипетских кладбищенских жизнеописаниях появилось словесное клише «я хоронил не имевшего своего сына». Позже в них распространилась похвальба благотворительностью при похоронах «стариков». В статье рассмотрено развитие данной темы и фразеологии до конца Среднего царства. Мемфисская чиновная элита, вероятно, считала организацию похорон непременным долгом одного только сына-наследника, но необязательной для остальной, даже очень близкой, родни. «Не имевшими своего сына» чаще всего оказывались бедняки. Однако при массовом обнищании населения в Первый переходный период даже в семьях покойников, имевших «своих сыновей», часто не было средств для должного погребения. Поэтому у «благотворителей» вошло в обычай похваляться похоронами «стариков» вообще.
